In this program, I am going to help you understand some of the main targets for China’s 14thFive-Year planperiod through a series of keywords and their meaning.

节目中，我将带你透过“两会关键词”了解“十四五”时期中国发展蓝图。

Keyword 1: A Safe & Peaceful China

关键词一：平安中国

In its 14thFive-year plan, China will focus on ensuring the stability of its national economy as well as carry out strategies for safeguarding food, energy and resources, financial security and public capacity across the board.

强化国家经济安全保障，实施粮食、能源资源、金融安全战略。全面提高公共安全保障能力。This will help maintain social stability as well as public safety.

这有助于维护社会稳定和安全。

Peace is a basic requirement of people’s health and happiness, and the developmental foundation of a country and a nation.

平安是人民安康幸福的基本要求，也是一个国家和民族最基本的发展环境。Only by building a more peaceful China, can the people live and work in peace and be content in a stable and orderly society.

建设更高水平的平安中国，人民才能安居乐业，社会才能安定有序。

Keyword 2: Reform and Opening Up

关键词二：改革开放

China is going to deepen its reform and opening up, build a new economic system at a higher level, and promote the high-quality development of the belt-and-road initiative, to establish a global network of free trade zones.

中国将全面深化改革开放，建设更高水平开放型经济新体制，推动共建“一带一路”高质量发展，构建面向全球的高标准自由贸易区网络。

Over the past 40 years, China’s economic development has achieved a lot, in thanks to the policy of opening up.

过去40多年，中国经济发展是在开放条件下取得的。

In the 14thFive-year plan period, China’s reform and opening up will take new steps to ensure that China’s door will not close, but open even wider.

“十四五”时期，中国改革开放将迈出新步伐，未来中国开放的大门不会关闭，只会越开越大。

Keyword 3: New urbanization

关键词三：新型城镇化

China will pursue an in-depth advancement of a new human-centered urbanization strategy, speeding up the urbanization of the population to 65%.

深入推进以人为核心的新型城镇化战略，常住人口城镇化率提高到65%。

The goal is to also improve the quality of the overall urban environments and their future developments.

同时，中国还将提升城镇化发展质量。

In recent years, the standard of living in China has increased and is continuously improving.

近年来，中国人民的生产生活环境质量得到不断提升。

This is a key element in the plan because only when the people live in safe and comfortable environments can they pursue their dreams and aspirations for themselves and their country.

这正是“十四五”规划的关键任务之一，因为只有当人民安居乐业，他们才能更加积极地投身于建设事业。
